HAHNVILLE –St. Charles Parish authorities have arrested six people who are accused in a string of car burglaries on the east bank of the parish over the past few days.

In an e-mail to parish residents, St. Charles Sheriff Greg Champagne said detectives investigated several automobile break-ins in neighborhoods in Destrehan, Montz and St. Rose this week. He had warned residents to remove any valuables from their vehicles and be on the lookout for suspicious people in the area.

“This investigative effort involved the execution of several search warrants and about a dozen detectives and deputies non-stop over the last 72 hours,” Champagne said in the e-mail. “Patrol deputies first uncovered the initial leads with detectives taking over and bringing the case to its final stage.”

Individuals arrested Thursday were Carl Rabito Jr., 18, of 170 E. Oakland St., St. Rose, on three counts of burglary, one count of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of principal to unauthorized use of an access card and possession of narcotics; Jessica Barnes, 22, of 222 Bernard Ave., Ama, on three counts of burglary, one count of principal to unauthorized use of an access card and possession of narcotics; Britni Clark, 20, of 3 Sombrero Lane, St. Rose, on three counts of burglary and two counts of unauthorized use of an access card; Dillion Pelot, 18, of 208 Davis Dr., Luling, on three counts of burglary; and Carl Rabito Sr., 37, of 170 E. Oakland St., St. Rose, for possession of stolen property. A juvenile from Kenner was also arrested and charged with four counts of burglary.

Champagne said many of the incidents, which included theft of cash, credit cards and other valuables, occurred in the Bar None Subdivision and the Villere Drive area. He also said Rabito Jr. was arrested and convicted of the same type of burglaries in the Bar None subdivision last year.

Champagne said as the investigation continues, more arrests could be made. He said any resident who suspects suspicious activity in these areas should contact the Sheriff’s Office.
