The River Parishes Hospital Auxiliary recently awarded scholarships to four high school seniors, Meg Gustafson, a student at St. Charles Catholic High School; Holly Martin, a student at Lutcher High School; Michael Aucoin, a student at Hahnville High School; and Chelsea Simon a student at Riverside Academy. Gustafson and Martin each received a $1,000 scholarship, and Aucoin and Simon, each received a $750 scholarship.
Each year, the Auxiliary holds fundraisers to benefit their scholarship fund. They also receive donations from River Parishes Hospital, the River Parishes Hospital Medical Staff and various community organizations. In April, they send letters to all area high schools inviting qualified students who plan to
pursue a healthcare career to
apply. Winners are selected based on their academic achievements, personal goals and aspirations for the future.
“As the community hospital for the River Parishes area, we want to help area students fulfill their goals of becoming healthcare professionals,” said Tammy Waltz, community relations coordinator. “We hope these students achieve their goals and may one day become employees of River Parishes Hospital.”
