Paper recognizes achievements, efforts

Each Wednesday, L’Observateur recognizes individuals and businesses in the River Parishes who have gone “above and beyond” in their efforts to make this a better place to live, work, play and raise a family.

Because this is a salute to members of the community of the entire River Parishes, we solicit your recommendations for groups or individuals to be considered for inclusion.

This week we salute:

• The River Parishes Tourist Commission, which has done a good job of marketing the area to production companies recently. Last week, three projects were being filmed in St. John the Baptist Parish including a television show that has booked the St. John Civic Center through October.

• St. Charles Catholic senior Brandon Becker, who earned top honors on the L’Observateur All-Parish baseball squad. Becker led the Comets in batting average and doubles for the season in which his team finished atop their division.

• Pastor Neil Bernard of New Wine Fellowship, who recently kicked off the church’s annual summer camp. Bernard remains committed to helping the youth of the parish stay out of trouble during the summer months.
