Gov. Bobby Jindal announced the reappointment of John Wood Jr. to the Statewide Independent Living Council.

Wood, a resident of LaPlace, is a personal financial analyst for Primerica Financial Services. Wood will be reappointed to serve as an advocate of and for individuals with disabilities, as required by executive order.

The Statewide Independent Living Council was created in accordance with federal guidelines to develop and sign, in conjunction with the Office of Louisiana Rehabilitation Services of the Department of Social Services, a state plan for independent living services and then monitor, review, and evaluate the implementation of the plan. The plan addresses the needs of specific disability populations and independent living issues that impact Louisiana.
