Over 60 Harry Hurst Middle Wetland Watchers and Destrehan High WISE (Wildcats Interested in Saving the Environment) students volunteered as presenters at the Audubon Nature Institute’s popular Earth Fest. Thousands of people from the New Orleans area and many from other states enjoyed the great weather as they participated in a wide variety of interactive booths focused on environmental education. Harry Hurst Middle and Destrehan High students facilitated many activities during the weekend and greeted kids and took pictures as the Wetland Watcher “Swampy” mascot and the “Smokey the Bear” mascot.
