METAIRIE — Raven Campbell, Matt Nobile and Ryan Terrio led the way for a strong Riverside showing Wednesday at the St. Martin’s track and field meet.

The Rebels did not have their full compliment of athletes due to baseball and softball commitments on the same day, but Riverside still managed 10 top three placements at the event.

“We’ve been doing well over the last couple of meets,” said Riverside track coach Joe Trosclair. “The whole team’s not always out there, but when they are we feel like we can compete with anyone. And in cases like this, the ones that we took over there did a real nice job.”

Campbell, Nobile and Terrio each scored first place finishes, led by Campbell’s two in the girls shotput and discus. Her shot put effort of 29-11 just beat out teammate Megan Malik (29-6) for top honors, and her discus effort of 85-6 paced the field as well.

“It’s her first year at Riverside after Reserve Christian closed, and she’s enjoying it,” said Trosclair. “She’s been putting a lot of work in at practice and coming through for us.”

Nobile scored a time of 2:09 in the boys 800-meter event to capture his most recent first place finish.

Terrio, who set a Riverside school record in the boys pole vault this season, saw his mark of 12-6 capture first place honors in that event.

“He’s probably the best pole vaulter I’ve seen here,” said Trosclair. “This is the first year he’s done it, and he’s got another year after this, so we’re excited.”

Dale Martin finished second in the boys javelin with a mark of 131-6.

Donald Thomas took third in the boys 200 on a time of 24.78.

A number of Rebel girls posted high finishes as well. Shelby Deslatte took second place in two events — the long jump (15-5) and the triple jump (29-6).

Channon Simmons finished second in the 800 (2:37). Maurie Laiche took third in the 100 (13.32) and the 200 (28.42).
