LAPLACE – St. Charles split a pair of matches this week as it continue to prepare for its regional on April 26 at Oak Knoll Country Club in Hammond.

The Comets downed Ascension Catholic for the second time in a week on Tuesday, 180-201, in a nine-hole match at Belle Terre. But a day later, a tough E.D. White team downed St. Charles by 10 strokes, 176-186, at Riverlands.

“I felt like we took a bit of a step backwards, from how well we had been playing,” said St. Charles coach Gary Zeringue. “The conditions were very challenging, but at the same time, you’re very rarely dealing with perfect conditions. You do have to adjust.

“I’m a little concerned with the regional around the corner. We’ve been on a roll from about mid-March on till the end of that month, but now we need to regroup.”

Lance Perrilloux led St. Charles in its win Tuesday with a score of 43. Jesse Coleman followed him with a score of 44, and Matt Autin notched a 45. Ryan St. Pierre rounded out the Comet scores, shooting a 48.

On Wedensday, the Comets were again led by a score of 43, this time shot by Ryan St. Pierre. Lance Perrilloux shot 44, Matt Autin shot 45, and Jesse Coleman and John Trosclair each posted a 54.

The Comets return to action Wednesday, when they face St. Thomas Aquinas and Newman at Oak Knoll.
