RESERVE – The final two weeks of March were busy days for the residents of the Southeast Louisiana War Veterans’ Home in Reserve as residents were treated to a pair of rousing events.
On March 19, the staff of the home joined Veterans and their families at the Southeast Louisiana High School Rodeo Association’s annual rodeo at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. The Veterans were honored guests in the stands, which were decorated in red, white and blue. The cowboys and cowgirls participating in the rodeo saluted the Veterans as their names were announced on the loudspeaker throughout the event.
On March 28, the Marine Brass Quintet treated the Veterans and staff at the home to an afternoon performance. The quintet consists of members of the Marine Forces Reserve of New Orleans. The performance came during the ABATE motorcycle social that was held at the home that afternoon. Members of ABATE travel the state promoting motorcycle safety on Louisiana roadways.
