Help resources available prior to start of testing

RESERVE – With phase two of state-mandated standardized testing set to begin April 12, St. John the Baptist Parish Superintendent Courtney Millet has urged local parents and students to take advantage of testing resources available to them.

In addition to the LEAP, iLEAP and GEE tutoring currently available at most schools in the parish, parents and students can also visit www.louisianapass.org or www.louisianaeagle.org for testing assistance. , calling 1-877-453-2721 will a tutoring hotline that is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday until April 9.

The second phase of testing will consist of multiple-choice items. For more information on testing and testing resources, contact Hymel, the district’s test coordinator, at the central office.

Registration for kindergarten in St. John Parish will also begin next week, starting on April 7.

Next week’s registration period will begin Wednesday at Lake Pontchartrain Elementary, move to East St. John Elementary on Thursday and conclude at West St. John Elementary on Friday. All registration periods will run from 9 a.m. to noon. After next week, kindergarten registration will resume later in the month after testing has ended.

Registrants must have an original birth certificate, an immunization record, a social security card and two proofs of address.
