St. James resident named to state board

BATON ROUGE – Gov. Bobby Jindal announced the appointment of John Brass of Lutcher to the Board of Commissioners of the Amite River Basin Drainage and Water Conservation District.
Brass is a retired principal with the St. James Parish School Board. Brass will serve as a representative of St. James Parish, nominated by a member of the legislative delegation, as required by statute.
The Board of Commissioners of the Amite River Basin Drainage and Water Conservation District serves to govern all flood control, public drainage and water resources development, reservoirs and diversion canals in the district.
According to statute, the board is comprised of 13 gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation. One member is appointed from the district at-large and the remaining twelve members consist of two representatives from each parish within the district selected from nominations submitted by their legislators.
