AMITE — Led by Madeline Duhe, four different Lady Rebels scored Saturday as Riverside topped host Amite 5-2 in a non-district contest.

After a 4-1 loss to Country Day, the Rebels needed and received a bounce back performance.

Duhe scored two goals, while Taylor Terrio, Chelsie Cupit and Shelby Deslatte each scored once to lift the Rebels.

Riverside coach Stephen Millet was without his usual starting goaltender Kaci Simon, but it became a non factor once his team got out to a quick start and scored three early goals.

“That definitely relaxed the atmosphere,” said Millet. “We only dressed 12, but I was able to sub throughout the day, so everyone got to play.”

Amite would score twice, once on a corner kick, the other on a Rebel own-goal.

Millet said that he felt his team was able to impose its will from the start.

“We overmatched them I think, and kept the ball away from them pretty effectively,” he said.

Millet also said he was proud of Duhe, whose goals were her first of the season.

“We’re pretty happy with her.

“She put together a nice game for us,” Millet said.
