LAPLACE – Authorities in St. John Parish are investigating the alleged armed robbery of a waitress at a LaPlace fast food restaurant, who said she was held-up Tuesday by a man wearing house slippers.
Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said a 25-year-old female employee of the Sonic Drive-In Restaurant on Ormond Drive told deputies that the alleged gunman placed an order around 3:26 p.m. Tuesday. When the employee delivered the food and reached for change, the suspect produced a black handgun and demanded “all the money” from the waitress.
When the waitress declined, the gunman reached into her apron pocket and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash, Clement said. The man then fled the area on foot heading east across Ormond Drive.
According to a report on the incident, the waitress said the robber was heavily tattooed and wearing a red T-shirt, gray pants and black house slippers. She also said the man had shoulder length dreadlocks.
Clement said deputies searched the area for the gunman but were unsuccessful. He said there were no other witnesses to the robbery.
