A colorful show of support

East St. John Elementary students, teachers and staff wear brightly colored red T-shirts to support the troops. “Red Shirt Friday” is known across the nation as a symbol of strength and unity for our U.S. military troops. Assistant Principal Linda King spearheaded the awareness to support our troops after her son-in-law, SFC Christian Gansemer, was sent to serve in Iraq. Over 150 shirts were worn after the tragic military loss from Fort Hood in Texas. Here, a group of students stand under the flag in front of the school. ESJE plans to continue their military support with student letters to the soldiers, cards and care packages.
