TEAM OF THE WEEK: St. James High School
Published 12:00 am Friday, November 6, 2009
St. James had a rough start to 2009. The Wildcats began 0-5 against a schedule that pitted them against five teams currently ranked in the top 10 of their classifications. But once district play began, St. James became a different team, winning three of their four District 8-3A clashes to secure a tie for the district championship. New quarterback Antoine Landry has made strides all season. Wide receiver/defensive back Alonzo Lewis is a 6-3 matchup problem on both sides of the ball. And as always, St. James relies on a stable of talented runners, led by senior Jaleel Steib. St. James has a tough test against Karr and star quarterback Munchie Legaux on Friday night, and a win would do wonders to send the Wildcats into the playoffs with momentum.
