LAPLACE – A long-time member of the St. John Parish Council has announced his intentions to run for the office of parish president.
Richard “Dale” Wolfe, Division A Councilman-at-large, said he will run for the office vacated by former Parish President Bill Hubbard, who resigned Sept. 24 before pleading guilty to bribery charges the following day. Two years remain in Hubbard’s four-year term, and the parish charter indicates a special election must take place to choose a replacement.
The election is set for March 27, with qualifying scheduled for Feb. 3 through Feb. 5.
Wolfe, 69, is completing his ninth term on the St. John Parish Council. He has served as a public official for 34 years, which included time on the parish’s Police Jury system.
Wolfe, a resident of Reserve, said his experience and honesty make him a suitable candidate as the parish passes though this time of transition.
