Walter and Shirley Brown celebrated their 60th anniversary on Aug. 14. They were married Aug. 14, 1949, in Linchburg, Va. They have three children, Pamela Sue Brown, Sherry Rae Thomptson and George.

They reside in LaPlace and have been there since July 1968.
