HAHNVILLE – A Hahnville man remains in jail on charges stemming from the alleged rape of a 27-year-old Des Allemands woman, to whom he offered a ride home, said authorities with the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office.
Donald E. Mastin III, 44, of 15692 Louisiana 18, was arrested just hours after the woman called police to report the incident on Sept. 4, said Capt. Pat Yoes, a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
Yoes said Mastin offered the unidentified woman a ride home from a local bar as she was leaving the bar on foot. Yoes said Mastin and the woman knew each other, but it was not clear whether the two were at the bar together.
When the woman got into Mastin’s car, he refused to take her home, said Yoes. He then drove the victim back to his own house, where the alleged rape took place.
Mastin was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility in Killona on charges of forcible rape in addition to an unrelated fugitive attachment from the Westwego Police Department. Mastin remains in jail on a $125,000 bond set by District Judge Robert Chaisson.
