L’Observateur still seeking submissions

Staff Report
The dictionary defines the word “extraordinary” as “beyond what is ordinary or usual” and “highly exceptional or remarkable.” As such, this is fitting word to describe the stories we are looking to include in September’s River Current magazine.
So, if you know any tales from the River Parishes’ past or present that fit this description, we’d love to hear about it.
This section will be a sequel to last year’s “Extraordinary Tales of the River Parishes” award-winning special section, but while last year’s stories centered around the supernatural, this year we are shifting our focus more toward the natural world. Ghostly tales are still welcome, but if you have a neighbor who has fought against the odds and won or a great-grandfather who has helped shape this great region, let us know.
We will accept fully written submissions, so if you like the idea of seeing your name in the paper, here’s your chance. Of course, suggestions are just as good, so if you just have an idea, let us know and we’ll send one of our writers to check it out.
The section will be published on Sept. 26, so we’ll need your ideas by Monday, Sept. 21, but, of course, the earlier the better.
You can e-mail your ideas or stories to lobnews@bellsouth.net (just put “River Current” in the subject line), call us at 985-652-9545 or drop by our office at 116 Newspaper Drive (just off Main Street behind Destiny Christian Center) in LaPlace.
We look forward to hearing from you.
