School year close at-hand, keep sharp eye

As hard to believe as it may be, the start of school is just around the corner … and that means school children will be just around the corner as well as darting across the street.

School children of all ages have their minds elsewhere as they leave their respective campus, get off the bus or run to get in the car with a parent or friend.

Because they are thinking about that cute boy or girl in their class, the big game on Friday or a tough subject they’ll be dealing with, they simply don’t have time to think about other things. Like vehicle traffic.

That’s why it’s up to us to watch out for them … from the start of the school year to the end and every minute in-between.

There’s no task so important … no errand so pressing … no rush to work or home so urgent that we can’t slow down and watch out for the youngsters in our community.

Look out for them just as you would want someone to look out for yours — and help them arrive alive.
