Riverlands knew that the final two meets of its season would likely determine its ultimate placement within the River Parish Swim League. Contests with 2008 runner-up Hill Heights and defending champion LARAYO promised to give the Stingrays something to build to.
But to have a chance to finish second or even first, the Stingrays had to take care of business at Ellington on Monday. And they did just that to the tune of a 478-71 victory in Luling.
“I feel like we’re ready for the stretch run,” said Riverlands coach Carla Lambert.
Riverlands (4-0) scored 93 points in the breaststroke — a season high in any event — and maintained a commanding lead from the first event on.
Lauren St. Martin, Andre St. Martin, and Merryn Guidry each captured three individual first place finishes to lead the Stingrays.
Thomas Chapman, Josh Chapman, Anna Guidry, Grace Richoux, Shelbi St. Pierre, Albert Hane, Evan Richoux, Stevie Noyes, Maddie Guidry, and Brian Comiskey each took two first place titles for Riverlands.
Alex Zenicki, Matt Torres, Elise Loisel, Gabrielle Montz, Lane Jeandron, Cameron Torres, Wesley Melancon, Maddie Sympson, Sarah Carambat, Jeremy Moore, and Cody Moore rounded out first place winners for the Stingrays.
