LAPLACE — A Reserve man was apprehended for attempted armed robbery and aggravated battery over the weekend after he hit another man over the head and tried to rob him during an incident last Thursday, said a spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.
Todd A. Joseph, 24, 530 Homewood Drive, Reserve, was booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace early Saturday morning after he was identified by the alleged victim in the robbery attempt, said Capt. Dane Clement, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office. Clement said the victim, a 43-year-old Reserve man whose name was not released, identified Joseph as the man who attacked him.
Clement said the investigation into the incident is still ongoing and little information is being released. A report from the Sheriff’s Office said that the victim told deputies that in the early morning hours of June 18, Joseph attempted to rob him while the two men were driving together in Reserve. At some point during the incident, Joseph allegedly struck the victim’s head with an unidentified iron tool. The victim was transported to River Parishes Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The Sheriff’s Office did not release any more details.
Clement said Joseph was taken into custody around 1:24 a.m. Saturday morning. He remains in jail in lieu of a $90,000 bond.
