Corey Warmington and Terrance Nathan each shined for West St. John at last week’s Destrehan meet, taking a combined three first place finishes.

Warmington captured first in the high jump and the 800 meters. Nathan paced the field in the 300 meters.

In addition, Nathan combined with Titus Barne, Aaron Bethancourt and Kenneth Dabney to take first place honors in the 4×400 meter relay.

“We knew Nathan would perform. He’s been with me for four years. He’s a veteran,” said WSJ boys track and field coach Martin Sylvain. “Warmington we knew would do well. So those guys came through.”

Jordan Triche took third place in the 200 meter hurdles.

Four Lady Rams placed top three in individual events. Ambria Major led her team with three, finishing second in the high jump and third in the long jump and triple jump events.

Alisha Batiste finished second place in the javelin, while teammate Janeeca Jones captured third. Latisha Jupiter took third in the 400 meters.

“Everyone’s times improved,” said West St. John girls track and field coach Stacy Bradford. “We’re very excited. It’s shaping up to be a special year for our team.”
