St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan held their annual spelling bee for the students in first through eighth grade. Melissa Horn organized this year’s spelling bee. St. Charles Borromeo registered with Scripps National Spelling Bee to obtain rules, information and spelling lists for teachers to use. Homeroom teachers held spelling bee contests to determine the top two spellers in each class. Those students advanced to the school wide competition. Brad Grundmeyer of Cox Communications hosted the school’s spelling bee. This year’s top eight winners in grades fifth through eighth are going on to the citywide spelling bee held at Xavier University in New Orleans on Saturday, March 7.
