Alton Joseph, West St. John (BSK B) — The Rams big man again stepped up huge when his team needed him the most on Friday night. Joseph scored 27 points as WSJ defeated North Iberville in a district game, keeping West St. John in a tie for second place. Joseph’s consistency all season has kept WSJ afloat, but his game seems to be truly taking off in district play.

Mechel’le Thomas, East St. John (BSK G) — Thomas had perhaps her most explosive outburst of the season on Friday night, scoring 30 points to go along with seven steals and five assists in ESJ’s 60-57 win over Hahnville. Thomas hit four of her five 3-point field goals in the second half — a half in which she scored 25 points and helped erase a 14-point HHS lead.
