Bardell

Octave ‘Tav’ P. Bardell departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 15, 2008, at Southeastern Louisiana War Veterans Home in Reserve. Son of the late Adeline H. and Octave Bardell Sr. Loving father of Heria ‘Butch’ Williams. Father-in-law of Donna Williams of Paulina. Brother of the late Lucille B. Marshall, Bertha B. Kennard, Olivia B. Jones, Louis Ezebe, and Placide Bardell. Also survived by four grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a retired Laborer of Colonial Sugar Refinery. A resident of Mt. Airy and Grand Point.

Visitation and services were held at Bardell’s Funeral Home in Mt. Airy on Saturday, December 20. Interment in St. Peter Cemetery of Reserve.

Barre

Odell V. Barre on Friday, December 19, 2008, at St Charles Hospital in Luling at 1:00 p.m. Beloved son of the late Anatole and Leona Matthews Barre. Brother of the late Priscilla Barre, Norma B. Burke and Anatole Barre Jr. all of Lucy, Albium B. Duhe of Reserve, Celestine B. Williams, Jane B. Merrick and Josephine B. Legaux all of New Orleans. Beloved and devoted uncle and great uncle of Penny Goudia of Lucy, Anthony Goudia of LaPlace, Chenell G. Brown and Felton L. Goudia Jr. both of Houston. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Age 91 years. A native and resident of Lucy.

Visitation and services were held at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgard on Tuesday, December 23. Interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Edgard.

Delk

Edward Kenneth Delk passed away at St. Charles Parish Hospital in Luling on Sunday, December 21, 2008. Beloved husband of 55 years of Carolyn Miller Delk. Loving father of Stephan L. Delk and Amy Delk Wiginton Miller. Son of Mabel Sempe Finch and the late Vance T. Delk. Brother of Donald Delk, Bill Delk, Lillian Kelly and the late Jack Delk. Grandfather of Jennifer Lambert, Hollie Mule’, Kimberly Wiginton and Michael Wiginton. Mr. Delk, age 80 years, served as a radio operator in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War.

Visitation and services were held at the First Baptist Church of Luling on Tuesday, December 23. Interment took place at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in El Dorado, Ark.

Johnson

Herbert Elderon Johnson departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 18, 2008. Beloved father of Herbert Elderon Wilkins. Son of Denise Wilken, Herbert Elderon Johnson, and Monica Young. Grandson of Deon Johnson, Marie Johnson, Herbert Johnson, and Ronald Micheal. Also survived by four sisters, four brothers, one adopted sister, two adopted brothers, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Visitation and services were held on Tuesday, December 23, at Providence #2 Baptist Church. Rev. Interment in Golden Wreath Cemetery in Lutcher.

Lawrence

David Lawrence on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at his residence. Age 55. He lived in St. Charles Parish for 41 years and was a Construction Supervisor with Hubbard Enterprises. He was a Catholic. Survived by his beloved wife, Andrea C. Lawrence of New Sarpy; daughters, Brandy Lawrence Marino of New Sarpy and Angelic Lawrence of Norco; sisters, Carrie Admire of Tennessee, Shirley Gauthreaux and her husband, Dalton of St. Rose; brothers, Timmy Lawrence, Thomas Lawrence and his wife, Shirley, Michael Pizzatola and his wife, Joy, and Roman Lawrence and his wife, Sharon; grandchildren, Blaize Marino, Justis Marino, Breann Marino, Dalton David and Lawrence Morris.

Preceded in death by: parents, William Romand Lawrence and Mary Kibodeaux Lawrence; and a daughter, Katelin Rose Lawrence. He was a great husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend to many people.

Visitation and services were held on Saturday, December 20, at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. Interment followed in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Loper

Gary C. Loper passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008, from complications due to stroke. Beloved husband of Zulma Laiche Loper for 33 years. Father of Leslie Loper Herring and husband Kevin and Gary C. Loper Jr. Grandfather of Kyle and Kayla Herring. Brother of Jean Loper Perry and husband James, Eddie Loper and wife Linda and Sylvia Loper Lowrimore. Son of the late Omie and Ila Loper of Laurel, Miss. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Age 63 years.

He was born March 10, 1945, in Laurel, the third of four children. He served in the U.S. Air Force overseas for four years. His career encompassed sales and management, computer technology and the medical industry. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He was the spark that lit up every room he entered and he never met a stranger. He was the voice of reason and the rock of support to all who knew him.

Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in Laplace on Saturday, December 20. Burial in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Gary’s honor to UT Southwestern Medical Center (http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/home/giving/index.html)

Russell

Danny Lee Russell Sr. on Thursday, December 18, 2008, at St. James Parish Hospital at 8:15 p.m. Son of Margaret Marcell Russell, and the late Royal Russell Sr. Former husband of Tavish Johnson. Father of Darren Moore, Tavia and Danny Russell Jr. Brother and brother-in-law of Donald and Debra, Darron and Carla Russell, Claudia, Carl, and Randolph Russell, Rosalind and Albert Williams and the late Royal Russell Jr. Also survived by a grandson, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, uncles, sisters and brothers in law, other relatives and friends. Age 45.

Visitation and services were held at Greater Evergreen Baptist Church in Paulina Tuesday, December 23. Interment in Antioch Cemetery in Paulina.

Stewart

Webster “Pooty” “Raymond” Stewart Sr., age 76, of Vacherie entered into eternal rest peacefully on Friday night, December 12, 2008 in Vacherie at the home of his sister, Rosalie. He was a native of Vacherie and the ninth child of the late Pleasant H. Stewart Sr., and Louisa Francis Stewart. He was the beloved husband of the late Bessie Morton Stewart, the loving father of Lynette S. Williams and Webster Stewart Jr. He was the devoted grandfather of Shea and Vincent Williams. He was the brother of Rosalie S. Hickerson, Helen S. Davis, Odeal S. Narcisse and Essie Mae S. Lemieux and Pleasant Stewart Jr.

Predeceased siblings are Felton, Brown, Wilbert, Vincent, Newman, and Wallace Stewart, Elizabeth S. Trench, Olivia S. Lee, Mildred S. Narcisse and Barbara S. Johnson. Stewart was a member of Highway Baptist Church, The Silver Key Benevolent Association and the Young Soldiers Benevolent Association. Visitation was held at the Highway Baptist Church in Vacherie on Saturday, December 20. Burial was in Highway Cemetery in Vacherie.

Ware

Carolyn Ware departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at the young age of 58. She was raised in Kenner but has been a resident of Laplace for the last 10 years. She leaves behind to celebrate her life and memory two daughters, Jacquet and Khema Ware; one granddaughter, Zarianne Martin; seven sisters, Patricia, Sherwania, Catherine, Geraldine, Elizabeth, Veronica and Mille; three brothers, Dwayne, Darryl and Ronnie and a host of nieces, nephews and very close friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Robinson; father, James Ware and sister Vada Robinson. The Funeral Visitation and services were held at Oakland Baptist Church in Kenner on Saturday, December 20. Interment in Providence Memorial Park in Metairie.

Zeringue

Edith T. Zeringue, age 83, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2008, at the Ormond Nursing and Care Center in Destrehan. She was a home maker and a member of the St. Mark Catholic Church in Ama. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ray P. Zeringue Sr.; son, Ray P. Zeringue Jr., and his wife, Cindy; daughters, Sandra A. Zeringue, Glyn Rae Zeringue Roussel and her husband Alvin “Joe”, Karen Zeringue Bice and her husband, Steve; sisters, Mildred Bodker, Lelia Lefort, Rita Mae Troxler. Six grandchildren; Eddie Price Jr., Lisa Roussel, Lyndsey Bice, Joseph Roussel, Ryan Zeringue and Rachel Zeringue.

Preceded in death by her parents, Leopold Troxler and Elmira Zeringue Troxler; brothers, Irvin Troxler and Camille Troxler; sister, Rena Gambino.

Visitation and services were held on Tuesday, December 23 at the St. Mark Catholic Church in Ama. Entombment followed in the St. Charles Mausoleum in Luling. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3717 Government St., Ste 7, Alexandria, La 71302, and Masses in her honor to St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 10771 River Road, Ama, LA 70031.

Zeringue

Norma Jeanne Horn Zeringue on Friday, December 19, 2008, at 9:18 p.m. Beloved wife of the late Clifton Zeringue. Mother of Toni Perez and husband John. Grandmother of Angelique Perez and Dominique Perez. Daughter of the late Olan and Pearl Horn. Sister of Shirley Cooper and husband Gary, Virginia McKown, Jessice (Lee) Peeples, the late Ralph and Billy Horn. Godmother of Norma Jeanne Cortez. Age 82. A native of Arkansas and a resident of Wallace for the past 32 years.

Visitation and services were held at St. John the Baptist Church in Edgard on Tuesday, December 23. Burial in Church Cemetery.
