LAPLACE — Authorities in St. John are investigating an afternoon armed robbery at a convenience store in Reserve Wednesday, said a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Maj. Mike Tregre, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office said an unidentified male suspect entered Moe’s Convenience store, located at 3357 W. Airline Hwy., around 2:25 p.m. Wednesday. Tregre said the suspect produced a black handgun and demanded money from the 56-year-old cashier working behind the counter.

The cashier handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from the register along with his own wallet, Tregre said. The suspect then fled the store on foot, running south on Homewood Drive.

The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and dark sunglasses. Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-6338.
