A thin East St. John team traveled to Thibodaux on Tuesday, where the Tigers notched a 4-0 victory on the back of a late scoring surge.

After a scoreless first half, and a deadlock through most of the second, Thibodaux scored its first goal with 15 minutes left in regulation. From there, the Tigers added three more goals in rapid-fire succession to finish with their final margin of victory on a rainy evening.

“We just didn’t play very well,” said ESJ coach Jason Beber, who had only 12 players dress for the game. “We controlled the ball for most of the game, but when they got it on our side, they scored. Our players weren’t talking, and our communication broke down.

“Once they started kicking deep on us, they pretty much had us.”

Likewise, on the other end, the Wildcats (0-3) weren’t able to cash in on the shots it generated offensively.

“We had numerous chances and looks,” said Beber. “We just couldn’t do anything.”

East St. John was scheduled to travel to South Terrebonne on Thursday, but weather forced a cancellation.

East St. John will return to action at home next Friday to face St. Charles.
