NORCO—Temperatures in Norco on Sunday were considerably warmer than those at the North Pole, but that didn’t stop Santa from making the rounds at the town’s annual Christmas parade.

Well before the parade kicked off at 2 p.m., the streets were lined with revelers, many of them families with small children, gearing up for the holiday celebration.

Since the parade took place on Dec. 7, the theme this year was “Remembering Pearl Harbor.” Accordingly, things got started with a number of local ROTC groups leading the way. These were followed by several members of local VFW chapters, each riding in their own golf-cart floats and tossing beads and treats to the crowds.

After that, the event started looking a little more like the average parade, with larger floats and local high school and dance organizations making their way through Norco’s streets.

Finally, the afternoon ended, as always, with Santa and Mrs. Claus atop a garland and reindeer-decorated float. Children squealed in delight as the pair waved and tossed beads and candy canes.

Afterward, crowds assembled in the town square, where Amanda Shaw led the festivities of lighting the Christmas tree.
