Bonvillain

Morris P. Bonvillain Jr. died Thursday, November 20, 2008, at his home in New Sarpy. He was 76 years old. He was born in New Roads and grew up in Houma and Greenwood, Miss. Morris served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1947 to 1952 as a Corporal with the 28th Maintenance Squadron, 28th Strategic Reconnaissance Group. While in the Air Force, he received the tri-state golden glove in boxing. He worked as a construction supervisor for T. L. James Company with road construction projects from Wyoming to Louisiana until his retirement. He was well known for his gardening skills and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a hunting buddy of singing legend Johnny Horton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Sharp Bonvillain; parents, Morris P. Bonvillain Sr. and Elma Porche Bonvillain; his brothers, Ernest E. Bonvillain and Edward J. Bonvillain; his sisters, Edith Bonvillain Turack and Joanna Bonvillain Bergeron; and a son, James Robert Bonvillain.

He is survived by his sister, Frances Bonvillain Torrance; his son, Morris P. Bonvillain III and his wife, Jutta; his daughters, Pauline Bertaut and her husband, Lynn, Wilma Geraci, Carol Freitas and her husband, John, Debra Wiltberger and her husband, Daniel; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Monday, November 24, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. Interment followed in the St. Charles Cemetery.

Robottom

Gladys O. Robottom on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at her home in Hahnville. Daughter of the late Abraham and Mary Mercier Byrd. Wife of the late Hubert Robottom Sr. Mother of Yolanda Robottom, Hubert Robottom Jr., Janice Robottom (Sidney) Allen, Byron (Germaine) Robottom, Beverly Robottom and the late Larry Robottom. Sister of the late Simon, Joseph, Ernest, William, Lawrence, Wilbert and William Byrd, Lillian Bossier, Leona Davis and Leontine Alexander. Also survived by nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 90 years. A native and resident of Hahnville.

Visitation and services were held at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville on Wednesday, November 26. Interment Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft.
