Former ESJ star Marshall takes Player of Week

Jones County Junior College’s Trenton Marshall has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 9-16.

Marshall, a 6-foot-5 guard/forward from East St. John High School scored 62 points to lead the Bobcats to a pair of victories.

Marshall scored 40 points and had four rebounds in a 101-78 victory over Itawamba Community College on Nov. 10. On Nov. 13, he had 22 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists in a 93-69 win over Alabama Southern Community College.

Marshall, a first-team NJCAA Preseason All-American, averaged 31 points a game in the two Bobcat victories and was 22-of-38 from the field, including 9-of-14 from three-point range.

Marshall, who is fourth in the nation in scoring at 27.3 points per game.

The next home game for JCJC will be on Thursday, Dec. 11, when the Bobcats host Delgado, La., Community College. The women’s game tips off at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7 p.m.
