Chauvin

Alfred Joseph Chauvin, a retired insurance salesman for American General Insurance for 30 years, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at the age of 79. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mildred Accardo Chauvin. He was a native of Union, La, and a resident of Lutcher. He is survived by his children Susan Bourgeois and husband Roy; Ann C. Rodriguez, Charles Chauvin, Michael Chauvin and wife, Lori. Daughter-in-law Mary B. Chauvin. He leaves 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Beloved brother of William Chauvin of LaPlace; Gary Chauvin of Prairieville, Daisy Cloutre of Thibodaux, Bernice Cantella of Baton Rouge and Doris Brignac of Abita Springs.

Preceded in death by two sons, Al Chauvin Jr. and John A. Chauvin; parents, William Chauvin and Gussie Bourque Chauvin of Union; sister, Betty Breaux; and brother, Wilbert J. Chauvin. He was a member of the National Guard Unit for six years. He was a commissioner at the voting polls for 28 years.

Visitation and services were held on Monday, November 24, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina. Interment followed in the St. Joseph Mausoleum.

Gaudet

Suzanne Bovie Gaudet, of Edgard, on Tuesday, November 20, 2008, at her home she heard God’s voice and answered the call. Daughter of the late Charles and Bernice Bovie. Wife of the late Moriel Gaudet Sr. Mother of Suzette Walker (Willie) of Garyville, Moriel Gaudet Jr. (Chandra) of New Sarpy, Kyle Gaudet (Dinah) of College Park, Ga., Tricia Turner (Wade) of Edgard, and Dominique Fleury of Edgard. Sister of Ethylene Wallace, Lottie Mae Barre of Upland, Calif., Lorita Lumar of Egard, Lance and Curtis Bovie, Curtis Triggs, Tyronne Lumar of Edgard, Max Costello of Chicago, Ill., Floyd Bradley of St. Rose, the late Charles Jr. and Leo Bovie and Gene Triggs. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Daugher-in-law of Clara and the late Emile Gaudet.

Visitation and services were held on Monday, November 24, at the New Jerusalem B.C. in Edgard. Interment in Church Cemetery.

Poche

Adeline Marie Lambert Poche passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2008. A native and life long resident of Convent for 95 years. Beloved wife of Ferdinand “Pete” Poche and parents, Laurent Lambert and Martha Dupepe Lambert. Survived by her sons Murphy J. Poche Sr. and wife, Vera L. of Paulina; and Gilbert J. Poche and his wife, Linda Guidry of Waggaman. Daughter-in-law: Iris L. Poche; one devoted sister: Rita L. Roussel of Convent; two sisters-in-law: Olga and Delia Lambert; one brother-in-law: Herbert Poche; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, one son Wallace A. Poche, brothers, Malcolm Romain, Juste, Eusebe, Gaston, Willis, Freddie and Lawrence Lambert. She was a cooking supervisor at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic School in Convent for 16 years. Young at heart, she loved and inspired all who knew her; that you were never too old to do anything. She was a member of the Altar Society.

Visitation and services were held on Tuesday, November 25, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Convent. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
