Bourgeois

Ellis Joseph Bourgeois, a father, a grandfather, and great grandfather died at 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2008, in Thibodaux. He was 95 and resident and native of Vacherie.

Visitation and services were held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Vacherie on Tuesday, November 18. Entombment followed in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.

He was Assessor of St. James Parish for twenty years. He was member of the LA Assessor’s Association, Knights of Columbus Council #1514, Lions Club, St. James Boat Club, Council on Aging, Martin Luther King Scholarship Foundation, St. James Historical Society, Molaison Deer Hunting Club, and usher at St. Philip Catholic Church in Vacherie.

Survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen and Edward Hymel, Destrehan, Eva and Robert Dufresne, Gramercy, Jeanne and Norman Adams, Vacherie, Corinne and Alvin Dupepe, Donaldsonville, and Susan and Randy Hotard, Vacherie; four sons and daughters-in-law, Leo and Gaynell Bourgeois, Roland and Linda Bourgeois, Ronald and Julie Bourgeois, and Teddy and Debbie Bourgeois, all of Vacherie; twenty-six grandchildren; and forty-five great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his wife, Lena Webre Bourgeois; parents, Edward J. Bourgeois Sr. and Anne Sevin; two sons, Robert and Al Bourgeois; two grandsons, Leo Bourgeois Jr. and Matthew Dupepe and one infant great-granddaughter, Alyssa Nickens; one sister, Ruth Danos; three brothers, Lee Bourgeois, Edward J. Bourgeois Jr. and Joe Bourgeois. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations made to the Building Funds of St. Philip and Our Lady of Peace Catholic Churches in Vacherie.

Spears

Barney “B.B.” Spears Jr. departed this life on Tuesday, November 11, 2008. He leaves to cherish his precious memories: one daughter, Kenyetta R. Spears of Fairfax; three sons: Barney Spears III of La Place, Gerald Spears of New Orleans, and Kendall Bazile of Baton Rouge; eight grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude H. and Barney Spears Sr.; and one brother, Calvin Spears.

Visitation and services were held on Tuesday, November 18, at the Betty Ann Sanders Memorial Chapel of Professional Funeral Services Inc. in LaPlace. Interment in St. Peter Cemetery in Reserve.

St. Pierre

Elzey Joseph “Boone” St. Pierre passed away on Friday, November 14, 2008, in New Orleans at the age of 93. He was the beloved husband of the late Elise Guidry St. Pierre. Son of the late Clement St. Pierre and Maria St. Cyr St. Pierre. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Leroy and Lois St. Pierre and one sister, Delores Miano. He is survived by his son, Dr. Jerry S. Pierre (Denise) of New Orleans; four grandchildren, Jerry St. Pierre, Jr. (Sandra) of Arlington, Texas, Nicolle Hoy (Timothy) of Hoover, Ala., Monique McConnell (Kevin) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Stephen St. Pierre (Whitney) of Chicago; seven great-grandchildren: Marie, Alexandra and Thomas St. Pierre, Colin and Charles Hoy, William and Chloe McConnell; and two brothers: Allen and Wallace St. Pierre.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, November 15, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gramercy. Entombment followed in St. Joseph Mausoleum in Paulina.
