Chamber hosts education summit this Thursday

LAPLACE β€” Information of all types involving education in the River Region will be on display this Thursday, Nov. 20 at Belle Terre Golf and Country Club.

The River Region Chamber of Commerce is hosting an Education Summit this Thursday, open to the public.

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m., with a cost of $20 for Chamber members, and $40 for non-Chamber members.

The summit will include the superintendents from all three region public school systems, as well as key officials from area technical colleges.

St. John Schools Superintendent Courtney Millet, St. Charles Superintendent Rodney Lafon and St. James Superintendent Lonnie Luce will all be on hand for a forum, and to answer questions.

They will be joined by Dave Matlosz of Louisiana Technical College, and Joe Ben Welch from River Parishes Community College.

β€œThe purpose of the summit is to promote public education innovation and to provide a forum for dialogue among key stakeholders,” Chamber Executive Director Chassity McComack said.

Lunch will be provided at the country club, located at 111 Fairway Drive in LaPlace.
