River Parish Youth Basketball will begin registration on November the 15th at the Riverside Cafeteria from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The league is in its fourth season and is open to boys and girls in the River Parish area ages 5-12.

League director Thomas Hymel commented: “Last year was a great year as we had over 175 children participating. The kids had a great time as the league was very competitive with two of the championship games going into overtime. The league is really working out well for the kids as we continue to strive for a Christian, structured environment for the kids to learn the game of basketball.”

The gym was also visited by Hugo the Hornet mascot of the New Orleans Hornets. The kids take a trip each year to the Hornets game with parents and family invited to come along. “The Hornets marketing department does a great job getting the kids involved before the game,” said Hymel. “We had kids who were allowed to go onto the floor and one of the kids got to bring out the game ball.”
