LAPLACE — Authorities in St. John believe that a man who robbed a LaPlace gas station last Saturday may be the same suspect who pulled off the same crime at the same place just two weeks ago.
Deputies were called out to an E-Z Serve Gas Station in the 100 block of Airline Highway around 8 a.m. Saturday, where an attendant claimed she was robbed by a black male wearing a grey hooded zip up sweatshirt with a light colored cloth over his face, a white t-shirt with stripes, dark colored wind pants and black tennis shoes with white soles said Maj. Mike Trege, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman.
According to the Sheriff’s Office report, the suspect entered the store holding a knife in his right hand and immediately ran around to the back of the sales counter. The victim, an unidentified female employee, states that the suspect waived the knife at her and ordered her to “give him everything.”
The report states that the cashier opened the register and proceeded to hand over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then fled the store on foot and walked west toward a neighboring business.
Tregre said the same store was robbed just two weeks before on October 18 by a man who fits the description of the suspect in the more recent case. In the first case, the suspect was armed with a long barreled gun. The first incident took place at a similar time of day.
Tregre said in both incidents, the suspect was caught on the store’s interior surveillance video.
