Tomorrow night, the St. Charles Comets will hit the field to take on Riverside as part of the Ed Reed River Parishes Jamboree. SCC comes off of an 8-4 season as the District 9-3A runner up, but enters this season with new faces at key positions like quarterback (Marc Picciola) and running back (Courtland Taylor). In all, only five offensive starters return to go with six on defense. That Comets defense turned in a solid effort on Thursday during its scrimmage with St. Michael, allowing no offensive scores. The defense will be leaned upon early in the season, as the Comets offense gels against top competition like Higgins and West St. John. But for now, Riverside is the focus — and any Rebels/Comets matchup promises to be a hard-hitting, physical affair. (Photo by Ryan Arena)
