Campbell

Rev. Albert J. Campbell Sr., Associate Minister of Rising Star Baptist Church in Laplace, died on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the age of 72. Survivors include his son Karim Abdur Rahman; adopted son Herald Campbell of Anchorage, AL; two daughters, Anncelyn (Marvin) Harris of Millersburg, MO and Debbie Hayes; two stepsons: Lloyd (Teriet) Johnson Jr. and David Johnson; four stepdaughters Carolyn (Owen) Ray, Cynthia (Bennie) Lee, Sheliah and Jennifer Johnson;one sister Lillie Mae Campbell; one brother Marshall (Easter) McKerry; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation and services were held at Rising Star Baptist Church in Laplace on Saturday, August 2. Interment: St. Michael Cemetery in Convent.

Dennis

Augustine “Teen” Millet Dennis on Monday, July 28, 2008 at her son’s home in Reserve. Daughter of the late Orell and Adam Millet. Wife of the late Irvin Dennis. Mother of Barbara Dennis, Diane Jackson, Adaline Turner, Gary Millet and the late Marion Dennis. Sister of Claude “Pepper” Millet, the late Ceola Payne, Dorothy Jones, Leanna Batiste, Julia, Whitney, Sr., Wilbert and Joseph Millet. Also survived by 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 80 years. A native and resident of LaPlace.

Visitation and services at Providence Baptist Church LaPlace on Saturday, August 2. Interment Providence Cemetery in LaPlace.

Dozier

Rosamae Dozier, homemaker, died on Saturday, August 2, 2008, at 12:49 a.m. at her residence at age 78. A native of Avoyelles and a residentof Ponchatoula.

Visitation and services were held at H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco on Monday, August 4. Interment in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in St. Rose.

Survivors include sons, Robert and wife Kathy of Simmesport; Dennis Sr. and wife Cynthia of Destrehan; James, Jr. and wife Deborah of LaPlace and Toby and wife, Linda of Ponchatoula, Daughters, Elaine Babin of Houma, Shirley Bordelon of New Iberia and Tammy Dozier of New Sarpy, Brother, Jay Hartley of Avoyelles Parish, Sister, Margie Lemoine of Avoyelles Parish; Dorothy Johnson of Ponchatoula. Also survived by 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by husband, James Dozier Sr., parents, Milton and Julia Bowman Hartley, sister, Katie Kimble and son-in-law, Dean Babin and Junior Bordelon of Simmesport.

Ellison

Edward Jeffrey Ellison, Sr. on Monday, July 28, 2008, at his resident in Luling. Son of Ella Rosette Powell, the late Edward Ellison Sr. and George Smith. Father of Edward Ellison Jr. Brother of Gatonia Powell of Brooklyn, New York, Damon Smith of Queens, New York, Jeremy Smith of Baton Rouge and David (Stacey) Smith of Atlanta. Grandson of Tarzie Mae Rossette. Also survived by a special friend, Elmeria Blunt, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 42 years. A native of Brooklyn, New York, and a resident of Luling.

Visaitation and services were at St James United Methodist Church in  Hahnville on Monday, August 4. Interment at St James United Methodist Cemetery.

Grows

Walter “U-Ta” Grows Sr., 77, died July 31, 2008. The Edgard native and resident was son of the late Louis and Cara L. Grows Sr., beloved husband of Gloria Mae Herbert Grows, father of Janice Rhea, Michael Grows and Walter Grows Jr., brother of Amelia Narcisse, Evelyn, Lawrence Grows, Elouise Stockman, Dorothy Smith, Eula Narcisse, Annie Mae Populis, Francis Williams and the late Morris, Melvin, Ellis Sr. and Oscar Grows.

Also survived by seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three brothers-in-law, 10 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, also pastor, office and members of the second African Baptist Church, Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, Woodville Baptist Church, St. Phillip Catholic Church, Greater New St. Peter Baptist Church and neighboring churches. Employees of Nephology Association/Metropolitan Kidney Center, DOW Chemicals SCO and Pepsi Americas are invited to attend the funeral services on Wednesday, August 6, at 11 a.m. from the Second African Baptist Church, 136 W. 3rd St., Edgard, La., Rev. Joseph Weber officiating. Interment Young Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation at the church after 9 a.m.

Johnson

Andy Johnson on Monday, July 28, 2008, at 4:28 p.m. Beloved son of the late Dusty and Jane. Father of Kenadi and Kamdyn Johnson. Brother of Sherry Langgle, Rusty Johnson, Scott Johnson, Sandy McFarland and Amy Johnson. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Age 38 years. A native of Nebraska and a resident of Reserve for the past 17 years.

Visitation and services were held at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home in LaPlace on Thursday, July 31. Burial to be private.

Stipe

Priscilla W. Stipe on Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Canon Hospice, River Ridge, La. Daughter of the late Laura and James Washington Sr. Wife of the late Henry Stipe. Mother of Rinoldo Williams. Sister of Bertha W. Gullage, Victoria White, the late Harriet W. Sooway, Leona R. Gullage, Albert, James, Johnson and Alfred Washington. Grandmother of Tianna Bright. Sister in law of Brenda P. Washington. Future mother in law of Deborah Jackson. Godmother of Minister Clifton Funches and Kawanza Porter. Also survived by 3 devoted nephews, Dwayne Williams, Bryan and Edward Washington, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Age 82 years. A native and resident of Killona.

Visitation and services were held at Children of Israel Baptist Church in Killona on Saturday, August 2. Interment Green Hill Cemetery in Taft.

Vicknair

Hilda Hymel Vicknair passed away on Friday, August 1, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Larry Vicknair. Mother of Michael Vicknair (Sandy), Mona V. Walker (Howard), Gary Vicknair (Myra) and Lisa V. Adams. Daughter of the late Philomene Waguespack Hymel and Henry Hymel Sr. Sister of Lucille Hymel, Ethel Scioneaux, Philomene Keller, Gloria Cervantes, Henry Hymel Jr., Ralph Hymel, the late Bernice Dufresne, Nola Chabaud and Marie Faucheux. Grandmother of Ashleigh Vicknair, Amy V. Brevelle, Stacey V. Zeringue and Josh Cormier, Mindy, Brittany and Howard Walker, IV; Harold Chiasson, IV; Deena A Mosley, Dustin, Joshua and Jeremy Adams. Great-grandmother of Nathan Brevelle, Benjamin Zeringue, Hailey Chiasson and Aiden Mosley. Age 81 years. A resident of Destrehan. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Visitation and services were held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan on Monday, August 4. Interment will be at the St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.

Wagoner

Justin “Coty” Wagoner died on Sunday, July 27, 2008, at his residence in Lutcher. Age 26, he was a native of Lutcher. Survived by sons, Little Coty Wagoner of Gramercy, Jace Wagoner of Gretna; sister, Misty (husband, Michael) Gill of Gonzales; brother, Eric Wagoner of St. Amant; lifelong girlfriend, Misty Louque of Gramercy; parents, Ron and Rae Wagoner of Lutcher; one niece and two nephews. He had just started working for Sturdy Built Homes after completing his schooling. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Visitation and services were held at Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher on Thursday, July 31. Interment: St. Joseph Cemetery in Paulina
