Keep St. John Beautiful, a certified affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, has received a $14,000 grant from Keep Louisiana Beautiful, Inc. The grant administrator is the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office. Funds will be used for litter enforcement, utilizing special litter patrol by Sheriff Deputies.

The litter patrol deputies will team up with inmates, litter crews, parish public works, recreation and parks, code enforcement, Wildlife and Fisheries, D.E.Q., and Department of Transportation to enhance our litter reduction efforts in St. John Parish.

In addition, a portion of the funds will be directed to the purchase of litter extraction tools, educational and promotional items and water and soft drinks for volunteers and committee development.

Since the year 2000, Keep St. John Beautiful has maintained an active committee, chaired by Judge Tom Daley formally, St. John Shade Tree Committee Established 1990. The committee prides itself on bringing key people to the table, keeping beautification issues in the forefront.

The committee plans an appreciation luncheon at the conclusion of the grant to report on the results, to recognize volunteers, and elected officials, including state legislators and senators who participate or contribute to the program. The grant program has a positive affect on our community.
