LAS VEGAS — First-round draft pick Anthony Randolph formerly of LSU scored a game-high 30 points Friday in a winning debut for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Summer League.
The No. 14 pick in last month’s NBA draft led the Warriors to a 96-89 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in the tip-off game of the nine-day, 53-game summer league at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
In a game that featured 11 lead changes and 11 ties, the Warriors pulled away midway in the fourth quarter when they opened up an 11-point lead at Cox Pavilion.
“I had a lot of fun,” Randolph said after his first game in a Warriors uniform. “My coaches told me to come out and be aggressive and let the game come to me, and that’s what I did. This is a dream come true for me. I am having fun and enjoying myself.”
The lean 6-foot-10 forward from LSU was 12-of-18 shooting, and also corralled eight rebounds.
He got plenty of help from three second-year Warriors.
Brandan Wright, the 6-foot-9 forward from North Carolina who was the No. 8 pick in the 2007 draft by the Charlotte Bobcats and sent on to the Warriors that night in the Jason Richardson trade, added 17 points and seven rebounds.
Guards Marco Belinelli from Italy and C.J. Watson out of Tennessee each added 14 points.
The Warriors face Dallas on Sunday in a 5 p.m. game on Sunday to be televised on NBA-TV.ut for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Summer League.
