LAPLACE – St. John authorities are asking for help in identifying a woman who allegedly used a stolen bankcard to make purchases at area retail stores.

Maj. Mike Tregre, public information officer for the St. John Sheriff’s Office said the card came from a wallet that was reported stolen from the nurse’s station at River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace on June 13.

According to a Sheriff’s Office report, the victim, a 35-year-old nurse at the hospital, told deputies that while she was on duty someone entered her purse and stole her wallet, containing several bankcards, a driver’s license and other miscellaneous cards.

The victim was unclear as to the time of the theft but said she realized the card was missing when she reviewed a bank statement saying that a purchase was made at 4:50 p.m. at the CVS Pharmacy located at 1500 W. Airline Hwy. in Laplace.

Tregre said surveillance photos obtained from the pharmacy show the woman entering the store and show her leaving the parking lot in a 2007 or 2008 Ford Expedition that is green or grey in color. He said the suspect used the card at a number of locations in the LaPlace area.

Anyone with any information on the suspect or the incident should contact Det. Juan Watkins at the St. John Sheriff’s Office at 985-652-6338.
