It was another dominant performance for Larayo last Thursday night, as the Barracudas defeated host LaVacherie 384.5-165.5 to remain in a tie for first place atop the River Parish Swim League standings.

Larayo (4-0) can successfully defend its regular season swim title with a win on Thursday night against Riverlands.

Larayo swimming coach Michelle Jensen said that the meet was a good tune up for her team before the final two meets of the regular season.

“They’ve got one of the stronger teams in the league. It’s good competition,” Jensen said.

Larayo  opened up a 75-33 lead after the freestyle stroke, then built it up from there. The Barracudas scored 76.5 in the backstroke, 78 in the breaststroke, 57 in the butterfly, and 98 combined in the relay events.

Luke Brouwer, Cody Shafer, Brandon Klibert, Paige Williams, Meredith Keating, and Kaila Klibert led the way for Larayo with three first place finishes each.

Maggie Trepagnier, Mallory Fernandez and Alex East each took two events for the Barracudas.

Jordan Loving, Will East, Luke Jackson, Dylan Klibert, Eden Simoneaux, Hailey Specht, Emily Brady, and Elizabeth Jackson rounded out the scoring for Larayo.

Now, the focus shifts to Riverlands, as the two teams atop the standings clash at Larayo tomorrow night.

“We’ll have to go in strong,” Jensen said. “But we feel confident.”
