St. John Sheriff’s deputies investigated an early morning one-car wreck on Airline Highway Thursday where the vehicle involved crashed into the P. D. Hebert government building. Lt. Troy Cassioppi, commander of the traffic division, said  59-year-old Edward Green of Reserve, was unresponsive when deputies arrived on the scene around 6 a.m. He was transported to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace, where he was pronounced dead. His cause of death was listed as a heart attack. He said Green left the highway, and traveled through the grassy field in front of the government office building before coming to rest near the front entrance, about 150 feet from the roadway. Cassioppi said the building suffered minor damage, but no one inside was injured. Green had no passengers in his truck at the time of the accident.  (Photos courtesy Sheriff’s Office.)
