LAPLACE – A routine traffic stop on I-10 in LaPlace Tuesday netted three New Orleans men carrying $35,000 worth of narcotics, said a spokesman for the St. John Sheriff’s Office.

Maj. Mike Tregre, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office, said Jessie Cage, 28, Frank Keys, 38, and Charles Wade, 26, were taken into custody after deputies discovered nine ounces of heroin hidden in an adult diaper worn by one of the subject. The three men were booked into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility in LaPlace, and charged with possession of over 200 grams of heroin. District Court Judge Madeline Jasmine set a bond of $175,000 for each individual.

Tregre said all three men have extensive criminal records, and a long list of prior arrests across three Louisiana parishes. A rap sheet on Keys listed 21 prior incidents, with arrests for aggravated battery, first degree murder, possession of cocaine, and possession of stolen property. Cage’s record includes 11 previous incidents, ranging from possession of stolen property to illegally carrying a weapon.
