LAPLACE – A two-vehicle crash in Edgard early Monday morning claimed the lives of three Vacherie residents, said a spokesman from State Police.

Joseph Piglia, public information officer for Louisiana State Police, said 28-year-old Travell Gordon, 35-year-old Lawrence Priestley, and 27-year-old Deaneea Narcisse, suffered fatal injuries when the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo they were riding in collided with a 2005 Ford Explorer as the Monte Carlo was making a turn. The wreck happened around 12:48 a.m., at the intersection of LA 3127 and LA 640 on the west bank of St. John Parish.

According to a report from State Police, Gordon’s Chevrolet was traveling southbound on LA 3127 when it made a left turn onto LA 640. He said Gordon failed to yield in making the turn, and entered into the path of the Explorer, driven by Clinton Sutherland, 35, also of Vacherie. Sutherland was traveling northbound on LA 3127 at the time of the accident.

Piglia said none of the passengers of the Monte Carlo were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. All were pronounced dead on the scene.

Sutherland, the driver of the Explorer, was taken to Thibodaux Regional Hospital with moderate injuries. Piglia said Sutherland was also not wearing a seat belt. There were no other passengers in the Explorer.

Piglia said driver impairment is unknown at this time, pending results of toxicology examinations on both drivers. He said the investigation is ongoing.
