Sharon Brown left a lucrative career at the age of 35 to pursue teaching. After being hired for a kindergarten program, she was “hooked.” Although she said her salary was cut in half, she no longer dreaded going to work in the mornings. According to Brown, teaching is her purpose, her calling. Looking back on it now, years later, she does not regret her decision to switch careers for a minute. Among the highlights of her career are  teaching students to believe in and respect themselves and mentoring new teachers.
