50 athletes honored at Reserve banquet

50 male and female athletes were recognize for their efforts during the 2007-2008 school year recently at Reserve Christian’s athletic banquet.
Senior Eddren McCain took MVP honors for the state championship Eagles basketball team. McCain averaged a triple-double this year on his way to being chosen as the Class C All-State Most Outstanding Player.
McCain finished his career with a triple-double in the Eagles’ state championship win over Athens in the Cajundome, with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists. McCain, a Bradley signee, has led Reserve to three straight Class C titles as the team’s starting point guard.
Fresh off of competing in the Class C state meet three weeks ago, seniors Alphonse Mackey and Alayna Bernard each notched boys and girls MVP honors respectively in track and field.
Mackey finished second in the boys’ 400, second in the 200, and third in the 100 meters at state. Bernard finished fourth in the girls’ 1600 and fifth in the 3200.
Daysha Blount was named MVP of the girls’ basketball team, after leading the Lady Eagles in scoring and running the team from the point guard position.
Ashton Torres was notched the top points total in swimming. Jonathan Broughton was named most valuable player in soccer, as was Madison Reeves in softball. Jessica Louque took the honor in volleyball.
