The LaPlace Volunteer Fire Department hosted “Meet a Firefighter” night in conjunction with Sicily’s Tuesday Kid’s Eat Free Night.  Many of the volunteer firemen were on hand and displayed several fire trucks, handed out fire safety tips, provided children’s fire hats and allowed the children to explore the equipment.  Sicily’s handed out balloons featuring their costumed pizza slice and bag of pasta.

John Snyder, Fire Chief, explained, “The goal of “Meet a Firefighter” night is to teach fire safety tips to children in a fun environment.  We also hope to introduce children and their parents to the benefits of the volunteer department.  We want to encourage their interest and support, as well as garner new volunteers.”
