The Port of South Louisiana and the parishes of St. Charles, St. John, and St. James held its 17th Annual River Parishes Industry Appreciation event on Tuesday, April 15.  The event is held to recognize the contributions that the industrial facilities along the 54-mile port district make to the Port and River Parishes Region economy.

Approximately 100 industry leaders attended the event including plant managers and other company representatives, members of the Port’s Commission, parish officials, and representatives from the U.S. Congressional District offices of Senator Mary Landrieu, Senator David Vitter, and Representative Charlie Melancon.  This year guests enjoyed an afternoon of Louisiana seafood at the Port’s Guest House at its Globalplex Intermodal Terminal in Reserve

The annual event is sponsored by the Port of South Louisiana, and the parishes of St. Charles, St. John, and St. James.  

The Port of South Louisiana, a 54-mile port district on the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Baton Rouge encompassing St. Charles, St. John and St. James parishes, is the largest tonnage port in the Western Hemisphere .

and accounts for over 50 percent of all Louisiana imports/exports.
