St. John Sheriff Wayne Jones held his annual fundraising golf tournament again this year at Belle Terre Country Club, with another huge turnout of almost 400 golfers, which takes two sessions of play to get all finished.

The evening wraps up with a fun social for all in the Belle Terre Club, at which time Jones announces the charity that annually gets a $1,000 donation. This year the charity was the American Heart Association.

Jones, who just won re-election for the fourth time, said he has not decided about whether he’ll go for another term, although inside information to L’Observateur is suggesting the sheriff may hang up his spurs after this new term if finished.

Jones said he will decide somewhere in the future, since he just won re-election, and is now enjoying the job again.

Clearly the crowd on hand last Friday had to agree, as they appeared to be having as much fun as the sheriff did.
