HAHNVILLE – St. Charles Sheriff’s deputies apprehended a New Sarpy man who has been wanted since last week on an attempted second-degree murder charge in the parish, but are still on the lookout for a Killona man wanted on unrelated burglary charges in Hahnville, said a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.

Capt. Pat Yoes, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Office said Major Mackie Jr., 42, 262 St. Charles St., New Sarpy, was taken into custody Wednesday after a traffic stop near the intersection of Park Avenue and LA 48. Yoes said Mackie had been wanted since March 18 in connection with a March 8 incident where Mackie allegedly stabbed an unnamed victim repeatedly. The stabbing caused lacerations to the victim’s arm and throat.

In addition to the attempted second-degree murder charge, Yoes said Mackie had various attachments from the St. Charles Sheriffs Office, and the Kenner Police Department. Mackie was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility, where he is being held on $200,000 bond set by Judge Granier.

Meanwhile, Yoes said deputies are still on the lookout for 25-year-old Brandon Williams, who is suspected of breaking into a vehicle at the Hahnville boat launch this past Monday. Williams allegedly stole a shotgun, binoculars, and assorted I.D. cards from the vehicle.

Yoes said Williams, who has a lengthy rap sheet that includes various burglary charges, narcotics charges, and an arrest for illegal possession of weapons, should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Williams should contact the St. Charles Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-6807 or call Crimestoppers at 1-877-903-STOP.
